We are an all volunteer rescue organization dedicated to helping place basset hounds that are in need. We are located in Woodinville, Washington and are here to help the surrounding area. Fundraising For Charlie Bear
Imagine being a really nice little Basset boy and imagine being sick, usually
that is okay cause your mom and dad love you and want you to get well, Imagine
having seizures 1 or 2 every week to ten days and your mom and dad finally take
you to the doctor and get medicine to make you better, but it makes you sleepy
all the time so they only give you one dose, and then when you continue to have
seizures that it creeps them out so much they stick you in the laundry room so
they don’t have to see it and keep you there 20 hours a day.
Well we don’t have to imagine it, it is what happened to Charlie, a resident
at Basset Rescue of Puget Sound, the previous owners didn’t even tell the rescue
about the seizures except as an afterthought as they were saying goodbye they
said they didn’t have time for him was the reason they were throwing him away.
As soon as Charlie got into rescue (two days) he had a series of seizure
activity that was so violent it flipped all his organs, he bloated and
torsioned. Not to let this poor boy down the rescue spend all its reserve funds
on emergency surgery his stomach was tacked but his spleen was damaged and had
to be removed. Charlie recovered and never stopped wagging his tail. But the
medicine is not controlling Charlies symptoms and he continues to have seizures
every week or two sometimes 3 or 4 in a row. The Neurology Department in the
Vet school at Washington State Universityon the other side of our state have
agreed to do a full day complete neurological consult including, MRI, CT SCAN
and a full neurology work up, blood work and a second consult when they are done
for $1700.00. Anyone who knows how expensive these tests can be knows we have
to take advantage of that offer and have to find the money to help Charlie.
Could you skip a latte or a lunch and donate to help this poor boy, could you
show him the love and compassion his own family couldn’t. Charlies foster
family will cover all the travel expenses will stay over night there to make
sure he is okay. Charlie deserves this chance he is only 6 years old. Basset

Mission Statement
The mission of Basset Rescue of Puget Sound (BROPS) is to provide education, prevention, intervention, and adoption services to ensure that all Basset Hounds enjoy long, healthy lives in loving, safe, appropriate homes where they are provided the life-long care they require. We commit to each Basset Hound and adopters we serve for the life of the dog. In the event that an adoption is unsuccessful, the dog is to be returned to BROPS.
We also serve as a resource to our community and all pet owners by providing education and information on responsible pet ownership, including the importance of spay/neuter.
We fulfill our mission by providing:
b) Conducting intake services to process and receive Basset Hounds that have been abused, abandoned at shelters, or released for adoption by owners who are unable to keep them;
c) Screening all prospective adopters to create an optimal match between prospective adopters and dogs available for adoption.
f) Collaborating with veterinarians and other medical practitioners to provide screening, spay, neuter, vaccinate, and other medical attention, such as surgery and medication;
g) Homing special needs Basset Hound puppies and dogs;
h) Providing foster care for Basset Hounds seeking permanent homes;
We also serve as a resource to our community and all pet owners by providing education and information on responsible pet ownership, including the importance of spay/neuter.

- Breed-specific education to prevent tragic outcomes of the vicious cycle of irresponsible breeding, sale and purchase of puppies and dogs, leading to neglect, abandonment, abuse, and death of Basset Hounds.
- The spectrum of services involved in rescuing Basset Hounds, including but not limited to:
b) Conducting intake services to process and receive Basset Hounds that have been abused, abandoned at shelters, or released for adoption by owners who are unable to keep them;
c) Screening all prospective adopters to create an optimal match between prospective adopters and dogs available for adoption.
f) Collaborating with veterinarians and other medical practitioners to provide screening, spay, neuter, vaccinate, and other medical attention, such as surgery and medication;
