Meet Annie and Molly
Annie and Molly are approx. 2.5 year old sisters (litter mates) looking for a new home with someone who has previous Basset Hound experience. They are currently located in Bend, OR. They MUST be adopted together since they are very bonded with each other and cannot be split up. They are bonded to the point that if one is getting a bath in the tub, the other one must be able to see her. Both have to go to the vets at the same time. Both will go outside and then come inside at the same time. They must be walked at the same time. They are very sweet, loving girls who just want to run and play. They love to run and chase the birds and squirrels in their yard. Annie tends to be a little more anxious of the two and depends on Molly more. They are both housebroken, spayed, mircochipped and up to date on vaccines. They do chase cats when given the opportunity. They will need a home that has secure, fenced yards. When the weather is nice, they like to be outside but when it starts to get cooler or rainy, they want to be inside with the family. They also love playing in the snow for short periods of time. They love meeting people and other dogs outside the home but are a little shy at the dog park. A home without other dogs is needed since both Annie and Molly are attention hogs and might try to push other dogs away to get petted or treats. They are also food aggressive and must be separated by a space or another room when being fed. The new home needs to be one where someone is home almost all of the time. They are ok with older, dog-knowledgeable children (over the age of 6 years) who will make sure doors and gates are closed and the girls cannot get out. They need a home with no toddlers or very young children. These girls are escape artists and will run if given the opportunity. They know how to push by someone in a door or gate to get out. If they both get out together, they are gone and very hard to catch since they do run very fast. A home that is NOT located in a heavy traffic area is necessary. They do need someone who has time to exercise them and is willing to work with them on some of their basic training skills such as walking on a leash without pulling. They are very strong and fast and can easily pull someone hard, causing the person to trip and fall. They are both currently getting trained with a Gently Leader head lead to help with their pulling. The adopters must be willing to continue to work with the girls on this issue. If you think you might be the perfect home for these girls, please go to the OBHR website (www.oregonbassethoundrescue.com) and fill out the online adoption application. If you have already submitted an adoption application to OBHR within the last few months, please just us know by email and we will contact you.
